Privacy Policy
The following privacy notice sets out what information Otter Counselling collects about you in order to give you a counselling service. It also sets out what rights you have in relation to data collection and management.
What we will collect
We may collect the following information:
- At initial contact we collect name, telephone, mail and e-mail addresses.
- At initial assessment, we may also ask you to provide us with information regarding your personal situation and psychological well-being and health.
- During ongoing sessions brief factual notes will be recorded to help support you and develop best practice.
How we use your information
We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a service and in particular for the following reasons: - Internal client record management.
- Compliance with industry good practice standards.
- Your Information is strictly private and confidential and is not shared with anyone else
unless required by law.
Information you give us will be stored securely, in line with the new General Data Protection Regulation effective from May 2018.

The new GDPR legislation also sets out your rights to access and ensure information is correct as well as having data removed.

The right to rectification - Correcting any information deemed incorrect
The right to erasure - Removal from database
The right to restrict processing - Permission to store but not to process data
The right to data portability - It allows you to move, copy or transfer personal data easily
The right to object - Example; processing based on legitimate interests
Rights to automated decision making - The right NOT to be subject to a decision made solely by automated systems.
